Centrifuge Maintenance & Operation
DAILY: Add one ounce motor oil to each main bearing. This can be done while the machine is running. Grease the pump and tighten the packing as needed.
BI- WEEKLY: Turn off the pump. Let the machine run for a few minutes to clear the bowl. Then shut it down. Grease both sleeve bearings and thrust bearing. This will take 30 shots per bearing.
FEED VOLUMES: Check mud weight in and out. Adjust feed tube valve for the best balance between volume and weight cut (closing valve will give a finer cut but, sacrifice volume). Check the tension on the torque arm (shear pins are brass cut to 318" at shear point). If it feels to
tight, close the valve slightly and let it run a few minutes. Then recheck the tension.
SHUT DOWN: If a centrifuge is to be shut down for more than normal maintenance, use following procedure. Turn off the pump and remove hose from the feed tube. Add fresh water at the feed tube and let the machine run for 30-45 minutes, then shut it down. Close suction valve on pits. Drain all hoses and pump. Using these shut down procedures will insure trouble free start up.
